Seven Year Witch - What’s in the Trunk?
Seven year witch is a four piece band from Anderson, South Carolina. Their blues/rock influenced sound is surely one that has made them a formidable force in the industry. Aaron Langford, Seth Burden, Spencer Burden and Porter Dowdy have taken the smaller rock scene by storm; with 30K followers on Instagram, 15K monthly Spotify listeners and shows constantly lined up, there is no doubt that this band has garnered the attention of many rock fans.
Along with their electrifying, fun stage presence they also have the heavy guitar riffs, bass hits, drum solos and vocals to match. Usually, the theme of their songs is very high energy, hardcore, head-banging songs that raise the adrenaline levels of the listener; the latest release is no different.
What's In The Trunk was put out on August 14th. From the very start, this song immediately jolts your mind with its heavy percussion and guitar riffs; rather than a slow, leading start, it goes right into that high energy that makes people love this band. There are a few slight breaks within the song where the singer hits a falsetto note and uses a more raspy tone; which gives a very nice dynamic to the overall vibe. It allows slight breaks in the flow but still maintains the upbeat, dancing feeling it gives.
Along with the song, they also released a full music video which is also a display of their charisma, personality, and energy that people expect when attending a show. It's a mixture of performance clips with the guys in full suits and rocking out, combined with scenes on a more silly note; scenes of them putting what could be presumed as a body in the trunk of a car, acting out a really over dramatic, yet silly story line. I think music videos like this are more rare to see, but are admirable because it gives the band relatability; it shows they're just guys having fun, doing what they love, and that not everything has to be taken so seriously.
Overall, they are all very talented guys who have a real eye for what rock music is; which shows by the support they have received over the last few years. There is no doubt that soon they will be taking the music industry by storm and not just on a smaller scale.
