Caroline Romano - Doesn’t Matter

Caroline Romano is a 21 year old singer-songwriter from Mississippi who now finds herself based in the music-filled city of Nashville, TN. She is a very determined and passionate artist as she started out very young; having her first single out at 15, and by 17 having moved to Nashville and catching the music scene on fire.

From successful singles in 2021 to a full length 16 piece album in 2022; Romano takes a listener truly on a journey and is very talented at making a person go through emotions that she has once felt. From tough subjects like depression and anxiety, to the experiences of first loves and heartbreak.
No doubt in my mind that her newest single "Doesn't Matter" follows that same trend; it released on May 3rd and i am so happy that i get to review it! The song overall gives a very pop/indie vibe; especially in the beginning with the more airy vocals and the softer instrumentals. It leads you in with a more chill vibe by keeping it very light and flows very well. What stands out the most to me, though, is how she lets the lyrics do most of the work. It never gets too crazy with the backing track, or the instruments and doesn't necessarily have a high crescendo either. This is a highlight to me when it comes to the singer-songwriter genre; having the words be the focus and being able to really understand or feel how she did; being able to relate to it.
A few lines really stick out :
"i don't wanna know who you're talking to when you're on the telephone"
"you gotta know that it isn't fair, a holy form just lying there. Like i'm not on the precipice."
These are what really popped out in my mind while listening due to the relatable nature of them. No matter what phase of life we all go through; first love, first heartbreak or even a lustful crush is something that everyone goes through. These lines help express how hard it can be to get involved in what feels like a one-sided relationship. When you like someone so much that you want any ounce of attention they will give you; enough to pass over the toxic or harmful way they could be treating you.
Caroline Romano is for sure a female artist to keep your eyes trained on for her future projects! Being so young, there are endless possibilities that could arise from her career, but i know she will surely excel! Be sure to stream "Doesn't Matter" and all her past projects as well!
