ALMOST MONDAY - LIVE IN SALT LAKE

On a bitter, cold January night in Salt Lake City, Utah, Almost Monday brought the Summer heat with the first stop on their Dive tour. Joined by Adrian Lyles on his debut tour, this show was an electrifying party, not to be missed. Come with us to a night at The Soundwell to catch the Dive tour.

The opener for the Dive tour is artist Adrian Lyles. The long-time performer and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series alum shared with the crowd that this was to be his first-ever tour. Of course, the way Lyles performs, you wouldn’t be able to guess that. Adrian and his band came out with an infectious energy, as they danced and bounced around the stage. The set consisted of unreleased music, his three released songs (Somewhere to Go, Formalize Me, and newly released King of Everything) and a stunning cover of Frank Ocean’s Pink + White. I think that the crowd was just as overjoyed that Adrian Lyles’s first stop on tour was here in Salt Lake City as he was. After his set, Adrian came out to meet his excited fans.

A diving board is barely illuminated on the dark stage. The sound of the dreamy, nostalgic title track Dive begins to play, silencing the whole venue. Almost Monday takes the stage and the audience erupts into cheers and screams of excitement. The band quickly jumped into the next song off their debut album Dive, playing the high-energy song is it too late? I find that Almost Monday captivates the crowd with their bouncy basslines and catchy lyrics, you really can’t listen to them without wanting to get up and dance which gives their stage presence a major boost.

After playing a song or two the band greeted their adoring fans and shared the exciting news that their song can’t slow down had charted number 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay, what an incredible way to start a tour. They continued to serenade the audience, playing the entirety of the deluxe edition of Dive which dropped two days before the show, as well as a collection of older fan favorites. The crowd spent the entire night jumping and singing along to every song the band played, it was a beautiful thing to get to experience, I don’t recall a single person in the crowd standing still as the band shared their music with us. At the end of the night, Almost Monday fans stayed and cheered for one more song, even after the house lights had come up and the show had ended.

Listening to Almost Monday feels like you’re enjoying a hot summer day, hanging out with friends and making memories you’ll never forget. Even on a cold winter night, the band manages to give you that feeling, amplified by a stunning live performance. I was so excited when I found out this would be my first show of the year because I knew it would be phenomenal and it still exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I would highly recommend the Dive tour to anyone looking for a fun, high-energy show to go to this winter.
