FEEL - FIND A LOVE
St. Louis, Missouri. Home of the Cardinals, The Gateway Arch, Nelly, and most importantly; Feel. Fusing styles of the past, present, and future, the four piece band of new rockers are slowly (but surely) climbing the ladder of such music. With just eight singles out, Feel has opened for esteemed acts such as Cheap Trick and Rival Sons along with releasing their much anticipated ninth song: Find a Love.
Feel, according to their official website , “nods at blues, jazz, and rock & roll roots of St. Louis, stirs in the experimental revolution of the 1960s, and incorporates the vast array of sounds introduced by British hard rock and Laurel Canyon that defined the sound of the 70s”. Within Find A Love, this description couldn’t be any more evident. The band manages to meld techniques found within the great Chuck Berry’s work along with a bluesy foundation similar to Bennie Smith’s, garnering an interesting fusion of sounds.
While researching their limited discography beforehand, I found myself mistaking Feel’s sound for the acclaimed Dirty Honey. But when the clock struck midnight and Find A Love was released everywhere, I was pleasantly surprised. In contrast to their past singles, new singer Garrett Barcus took a gravelly approach from a listener’s standpoint, making for a fresher sound. Aside from vocals, the other three (Tyler Armstrong on guitar, Rodger Lenhardt on bass, and T.J. Steinwart on drums) knocked it out of the park through their respective positions, thus making Find A Love their best piece yet.
Feel is on the rise. With their newest single, upcoming shows, and a mysterious path awaiting them: the group from St. Louis should no doubt bloom into their own.
