On September 23, 2024 I was fortunate enough to attend a performance of Ziggy Alberts’ “New Love World Tour” at the Soundwell in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alberts was accompanied on this tour by friend, and co-producer of the “New Love” album set to debut in February 2025, Garrett Kato. Kato opened the show with a beautiful acoustic set. From songs he sings to his daughter to songs he wrote for his dog, Garrett Kato put on a truly phenomenal show. Several times he acknowledged how respectful and wonderful the crowd was as he told his stories through song. After Kato’s performance, Ziggy Alberts took the stage. The crowd roared with excitement at the sight of the Australian folk singer. Ziggy also played an acoustic set, playing his guitar with a kick pedal as a drum and switching to a piano for a few songs. The singer acknowledged and thanked his fans for returning to another show in Salt Lake City and serenaded the crowd with music, playing new songs “Where Does the Love Go?” and Outlaws, as well as old classics. Overall Ziggy’s set was absolutely beautiful, his lyrics are meaningful and his vocal tone is beautiful to hear. It is no wonder that he has grown the fanbase that he has. I feel very lucky to have been able to attend this show and discover two artists that I have been listening to frequently since the show and will definitely catch future Ziggy Alberts and Garrett Kato shows in Salt Lake City.
