On Saturday, September 23, fans lined up outside of Salt Lake City’s Union Event Center to see the high-energy band from Liverpool, England - The Wombats. The band is currently on their North America tour after releasing their Is This What It Feels Like to Feel Like This? EP at the end of last year.

One thing you can always guarantee from a Wombats show is high energy. The trio, consisting of Matthew “Murph” Murphy (Frontman), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bassist), and Dan Haggis (drummer), opened the show strong with hit song Cheeta Tongue off their 2018 album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life. The audience erupted in cheers of joy and excitement. With fans on the bar screaming the lyrics to every song throughout the entire set, it’s safe to say The Wombats know how to excite a crowd.

Throughout the show, the band managed to keep high energy in the crowd, even in their songs with slower tempo and pacing. Between making jokes with the crowd and having giant dancing wombats dancing around the stage, the band kept an electric energy in the venue all night long. The Wombats also made sure to play fan favorite songs off of each of their releases from the last 16 years.

If you’re looking to see a high energy band that has so much love for both their music and their fans, I would highly recommend a Wombats concert to anyone. Catch them this fall on the rest of their North America tour!
