HANNAH WICKLUND - LIVE IN PHOENIX

The anticipation was killing me - I couldn’t wait to finally hear Hannah perform once again! The time had come, her bandmates walked out all in kimonos that were draped with Hannah’s art work on them. Hannah emerged from her dressing room and I swear she floated on stage like an ethereal fairy. She got on stage and right away broke out into a guitar solo - and in that moment I have never been more proud to be a woman.

I was in awe - I have only heard a small set of hers at Bottlerock Fest when she sang a song with Marcus King. Which was truly amazing, might I add. I knew I needed to hear more. I finally got a full show of purely Hannah and she did not disappoint. I stood there in awe thinking how truly magical it was to see her show that is entirely her.

She had a cozy set up on stage with a rug and she was wearing a pink flowy dress with a crown full of crystals. It felt so comforting and all of her fans were just truly happy to see her up close and just listen to the beauty she has created in her work. I needed to get some closer shots so I was weaving in and out of the fans as they were flowing to the music and their drinks were flying. Everyone was truly letting loose and having such a great night. She was truly so captivating and I think that will bring her so far!

The song that spoke to me most was “Songbird Sing” because of how raw and beautiful it sounded live. This song teaches you how to put yourself first. I can’t imagine all of the things Hannah has had to go through being so young and growing up performing. Sometimes we tend to forget to put ourselves first and we need to realize that sometimes we need to step back and say no.

It truly felt like we were all on a magical rock journey through the forest that night. It is so cool seeing young women emerge in rock right now. I love to see how rock/singer-songwriter music is not dead and can’t wait to see what the future holds! What a great time to be alive. Hannah is going to impact so many young people, especially young women. She teaches so many of us to stand up for ourselves and be happy for one another.

If you haven’t seen Hannah live yet, catch a show that is part of her Hell in the Hallway World Tour. She is a true powerhouse and her show was purely magical. I went through a whole journey about how proud of myself I was and for how far women have come in a male dominated field. Hannah will continue to inspire me to be proud of where I am and to keep following my dreams!
