Krooked Kings - Live in SLC
Halloween is one of the best holidays when you’re young, but as we grow older there is more pressure on the night to go out and enjoy yourself. This year I had the absolute honor and pleasure of attending the Krooked Kings show at the Depot in Salt Lake City, and I cannot think of a better way to have spent my Halloween.
Opening our Halloween night at the Depot, fellow local artists 26Fix took the stage. 26Fix is a band that I have heard a lot about, but until tonight, I had never gotten the chance to see. I am glad to say I absolutely adored the band’s set. The group came out dressed as “french devils” speaking to the audience in silly french accents, immediately creating a warm and fun environment for the evening. Overall, I really enjoyed the performance, led by Erika Goodwin, the heart and soul of 26Fix, my only complaint is that I wish the band had played a longer set so I could enjoy more of their sound.
At long last it was time for our spooktacular headliners, the Krooked Kings. As a long time fan, my adrenaline was pumping as the kings took the stage. Dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their sensei Master Splinter the band started their set with songs off their latest two albums Shiver (2024) and All Out of Good Days (2023). The set was full of energy and was one of my favorite performances from Krooked Kings thus far. I really loved the variety between new and old songs in the performance, it really made the show accessible to new and old fans alike. I was so excited to hear songs like Suburbia, Wish We Could Be Friends, Coming of Age, Bird Scooter, Headhunters, and of course new release Slasher. Honestly, I would’ve loved to stay at The Depot all night and listen to the band play their entire discography live. Krooked Kings are truly incredible performers and the obvious joy the boys get from performing is so contagious.
I really feel so fortunate that I was able to attend this spooky night at The Depot. This show was a really awesome way to spend my Halloween and after speaking to other members of the crowd, I know that was a shared sentiment. Between special Halloween themed posters and t-shirts and fans and performers in costumes the vibe of the whole night was just really awesome. It's always a treat to catch local artists as well and 26Fix and Krooked Kings are both truly phenomenal acts to see where and whenever they play.
