Buzzards & Bees 2024
Buzzards & Bees, a local music festival held in the heart of Provo, Utah, returned for their 6th year with a fun lineup of all of Utah’s favorite local artists! We were invited out this year to give everyone a look into the lively, Halloween themed night of music. Between 11 different venues, most along Center Street in Downtown Provo, over 80 bands performed, including a special set from our very own growing Cardinal Bloom at the end of the night!
Now, I am fairly privy to a few of the artists that played that night, including Homestyle Dinner Rolls, No Such Animal, and Swerved By Blondes; all fantastic bands home grown here in Utah! Buzzards & Bees is a perfect place to get a sense of our local music, and their insanely unique personalities through their costumes. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this spooky night of fun, but our photojournalist Jaye had the absolute honor to be in attendance, and had nothing but joyous things to share!
Jaye reported that the crowd seemed to be larger this year than our experience of last years, and that costumes from both artists and attendees were more elaborate! Internet Lover Boys, one of Jaye’s favorite local groups (they’re seriously so cool), played the ‘Goofy Goober’ song, and ‘Ripped Pants’ from an episode of SpongeBob Squarepants, all the while dressed as characters from the show! Cardinal Bloom, dressed up as Pokemon characters (my favorite was Nathan, as Pikachu while on the drumset) even danced to the Pokemon theme song!
From what I’ve seen and heard, Buzzards & Bees delivered once more on another hauntingly fabulous night of music. If you have not attended Buzzards & Bees yet, I highly recommend going for next years festival! Links to local bands included will be provided, as well as the Buzzards and Bees Instagram where you will be able to see more info on bands and keep up for next year’s festivities!
