Games We Play - She’s the Girl
Since his debut album, “Life’s Going Great,” the artist known as Games We Play, or Emmyn Callerio, has released a new single titled “She’s The Girl.” As he’s gained more recognition in the industry, he has had the incredible opportunity to tour alongside well-known artists such as Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, The Band CAMINO, and YUNGBLUD. Reflecting on his storytelling and experiences put into words, what made the backstory of “Life’s Going Great” was going through a difficult breakup, making the move from Los Angeles to Nashville in order to live with his parents, and grappling with issues of self-image. But Emmyn took the album back to the studio as his life began to change in unexpected ways. It was a moment of realization for him, understanding that he wasn’t quite done yet with “Life’s Going Great.” There were still stories to tell and a staple of an album to be found.
We're counted in, then spoke to by a furious and forceful drum beat, accompanied by an uplifting guitar piece that offers another dimension of volume and emotion. This creates an atmosphere that is unforgettable.
“She’s the girl who lives inside my head; she’s the way—the truth; she’s heaven sent.”
Despite his efforts to pursue a relationship or just admire someone, there’s someone who has appeared in his thoughts often, seemingly being the constant throughout the unfortunate circumstances of that year.
“She’s the one; she’s all I know, but I keep on letting her go.”
Alluding to the concept of making mistakes, it often involves not expressing feelings at the right moment when they would have had the significant opportunity, and if they aren’t expressed in time it may be too late to change the outcome.
Chances that are presented to us can often be misunderstood or misinterpreted, leading to decisions that may not reflect our true feelings. When we let someone go after having the opportunity for something meaningful to become, we might find ourselves regretting that choice in time, as the potential for growth and relationship dissipates away, leaving us to think of what it could’ve become.
Everything kicks in. Emmyn’s voice is well-built, translating his writing to song with ease. The guitar and drums fade for a moment, allowing the clapping to serve as a dynamic backdrop behind his voice. Through that, he creates a sound with a mesmerizing electronic-like effect that makes it feel like it’s originating from a wall telephone. Crashing back in, everything picks back up, from the guitar’s sound to the steadfast drumbeat that takes the wheel without a question. This song has a pop-punk 2000’s feel that is both infectious and unforgettable, making an impact on its audience.
As for what’s to be? After the release of “She’s The Girl,” Games We Play will be performing throughout the states with Brayden Bales from Oklahoma City, to Birmingham, Alabama. In the meantime, take a look at Games We Play’s discography and page!
