KOLBY COOPER - LIVE IN TULSA
Kolby Cooper performed a show at Cain's Ballroom on March 29th, 2024. Kolby has a classic country sound we southerners know and love. His stage presence reflects his love for his art as well. He shows genuine love to all of his fans. The music and sound was completely authentic and there is something there for everyone. He has a suspenseful entrance with his band coming out first. Kolby then comes bursting with energy getting into his first song. He brings plenty of guitar pics with his logo to bring out to all of his fans. Immediately he has everything belting out his songs right along with him. He really never seems to lose energy all throughout the show. He really has a way of capturing your attention immediately.
Even if you know nothing about him or his music he really captures you right away. The crowd also has a presence that is hard to ignore.
Aside from the physical factors of the cowboy hats and bell bottoms with the people erupting into loud cheers, there was so much joy in the crowd. Every person you saw had a big smile on their face.
That same energy also radiated to the opening act. A smaller artist by the name of Cam Allen opened for the show. He also had a country rock sound to his music. He moved all around the stage and everyone got an equal experience no matter where you were in the venue. His band provided guitar solos that will blow you away (especially if you're too close to the speakers). The crowd showed the same love to Cam as they did to Kolby. Nothing but screams of joy and excitement filled the room after every song. These artists have the classic country twang that people search for in modern music.
Country seemed to be a genre drowned out by collective hate and the world of modern pop music. It was refreshing to see two artists taking country back and giving it a modern twist but keeping traditional styles tied in. Kolbys band is made up of very strong musicians. The music is strong and smooth but doesn't drown out Kolbys insane vocals. Kolby was able to focus on everyone in the crowd.
When you zone out it almost feels like you're sitting in a country bar watching a stranger perform. One of those instances where you sit and think to yourself “wow they could be famous”. It's an amazing feeling to be sitting there in front of this artist, and having fond memories and thoughts flooding your brain as you listen to some really good music. That's really the vibe the entire venue had. It really felt old and rustic.
Looking back this was a seriously good concert. I would absolutely go again and I would bring as many friends as I can. I always hope to encourage people to go out and listen to this music if it's what you're into; and even if it's not because it's just that good. And if you get the chance, go check him out live. It's something you wont regret.
