Nordista Freeze - On the Banks of Disappearing
On February 21st, 2025, Nordista Freeze debuted his new album On the Banks of Disappearing with his fan base across all platforms. This album is home to fifteen diverse and enticing tunes!diverse and interesting tracks! While attending a listening party held prior to the album's release by Freeze himself, he and the team behind the album spoke in depth about wanting to keep the album sounding raw and authentic. This album has a stunning effect of wonderful production that also makes you feel like you are jamming around a campfire with friends!
Since attending Space Prom, my eyes have been opened to a very pleasant corner of the Nashville music scene. Freeze has done a fantastic job of creating a beautiful community of extremely talented musicians, some of which are behind this album to a new and interesting corner of the Nashville music industry. Freeze lives to travel and work on different projects, which On the Banks of Disappearing hosts songs of many different vibes and styles, which makes it one of the most interesting releases I’ve listened to in 2025 so far. The album includes vibey, acoustic tracks, raw piano tunes, and funky guitar jams that makes the album stand out from some of the other releases I’ve heard this year so far!
Freeze released two singles off of the full-length before the album's release, one of these tracks was entitled Station Vacation, which turned out to be one of my absolute favorite tracks off the album. Freeze has spoken before about one of his more popular influences being The Beach Boys, which can be clearly heard on this track, and several others on the album. If that is something that interests you, and you are looking for a great “song of the summer”, Station Vacation is definitely worth your while.
The second single released prior to the album is A Little Bit Longer, which features a similar guitar tune to Station Vacation, but an entirely different vibe. This tune gives us a glimpse into the raw, untouched vocals on this album that make the entire composition feel like a live performance. This track also introduces us to Freeze’s piano skills! During the listening party held over Zoom, Freeze spoke about how he writes most of his music on piano, which is very prevalent on this album. I think it also speaks to the quality of the songs when you really think about how they were written and recorded. It's refreshing to hear a release with next to no effects on the vocals/instrumentals, just pure Nashville talent!
My personal favorite track on the record would have to be Listen to You, this track is incredibly satisfying to listen to, and provides a chill vibe perfect for any occasion. The track has a run time of two minutes and fifty-three seconds, and is the third tune on the tracklist. The song opens with some classic electric guitar and vocals that quickly turns into a catchy band jam with some interesting synth-piano to back it up which really brings the track all together. I enjoy this track the most because it is catchy, fun, and really encapsulates the essence of the “live performance” aspect of the album. This track has been on repeat since I first listened!
On the Banks of Disappearing is without a doubt one of my favorite/most creative and inspiring releases I have seen in the new year. I would recommend this album to anybody looking to connect with a profound and truly talented corner of the Nashville music scene, or anyone on the hunt for an authentic album featuring so much talent within its team. From start to finish, this album tells a story of traveling, heartbreak, love-at-first-sight, intrigue, and so much more. Everyone could find home within a track on this album, as it tells a uniquely relatable tale of a chunk of the human experience!
Freeze as an artist, embodies love, passion, talent and care for his craft and those around him. The team behind this record are not only gifted and knowledgeable of their craft, but they are also all good friends! Freeze holds great respect for the production team and musicians behind each track on the album, which can be heard based on the love and care given to each riff, lyric, and beat. On the Banks of Disappearing is definitely worth checking out, and I cannot wait to see what Freeze does with this record in the future!
