BRISTON MARONEY - BODY

Nashville-based singer/songwriter Briston Maroney released his newest single titled Body on Tuesday, May 16th and it will be followed by his second studio album Ultrapure later this fall.

Maroney, who first reached recognition for his 2018 song Freakin’ Out On The Interstate, has grown immensely in the last five years and his work surely reflects that. What started as a kid writing and producing E.P.’s has progressed into an entire career for the 25 year old, who just toured the United States last year for his 2021 album Sunflower. Body is just a minuscule glimpse at what listeners can expect for Ultrapure and the song is nothing short of the genuine artistry the young musician possesses.

From a lyrical standpoint, Body is very different from Maroney’s previous pieces. It is a much deeper and poetic style of writing that discusses the trials and tribulations of the human experience; a very profound subject matter in comparison to his past work. This gives the tiniest glimpse into the themes for the continuation of Ultrapure which is sure to not dissapoint in the literary department. Instrumentally, the song takes more of a backseat in terms of Maroney’s usual guitar-dominant sound and he lets the vocals do the talking, so to speak.

There seems to be more focus on the raw emotion of the song’s ambience and expression, which surprisingly enough, only seems to make the piece that much more captivating. The slight audio distortion and the inclusion of unorthodox production elements such as raw vocals also adds to the rollercoaster ride that is Body and it has all of his fans on the edges of their seats, counting down the days until the album is finally dropped.

Ultrapure is due to be released on all streaming platforms on September 22nd followed by a string of tour dates in Europe this winter with fellow musician Abbie Ozard. On top of this, Briston will be hosting Paradise music festival in Nashville on October 12th-14th with artists such as Samia, Hannah Cole, Hey, Nothing, and many more.
