THE INTRUSION

On Saturday April 29, 2023, Illinois native band The Intrusion made their debut at Parrot’s Bar & Grill in St. Peters, MO. Energy within the small venue was electrifying upon entering. Support for the talent was through the roof. Friends, family and strangers alike gathered to show their love and enjoy the performance.

The band is made up of four members, all incredibly passionate about their work. Preston on drums, Koda on lead guitar, Michael on bass, and frontman Max with keys and vocals.

I met with them after their first set for a short, informal interview.

Alyssa: So what was the inspiration for your band name?

Preston: Okay so, my grandpa, he had a band in the sixties with his brothers and like a group of his friends and they were called The Intruders. So it’s kind of like an homage to them.

Alyssa: Do you have any big plans for this band or is it a hobby?

Preston: Full time job I’d say.

Max: Big, big plans. We are absurdly dedicated to it.

Michael: Nashville later this year to record.

Alyssa: When is that happening?

Max: I don’t know, October?

Preston: October, November.

Alyssa: An album?

Preston: Maybe, yeah. Maybe a double.

Max: We’re trying to do it old school. Like a lot of people now they do small releases of a couple songs, we’re trying to do album rock. You know what I mean? We’re gonna be printing vinyl.

Alyssa: What’s your creative process like?

Max: We try to work on like, letting go. Because we don’t really choose where everything comes from. Like it’s all the same way really, you don’t choose what you’re interested in, it just comes to you. So I find a lot of our sessions where we write something good is where we kind of make ourselves open to receive an idea, you know? I mean it’s usually getting kind of stoned. We try to run everything. We don’t try to fit into any genre.

Alyssa: Who is your biggest influence? Any band or artist that comes to mind?

Michael: Zeppelin.

Max: Zeppelin is our biggest influence.

Preston: Like Supertramp, Rival Sons.

Alyssa: Any upcoming projects other than the hint at a double ep?

Preston: We’re going to Michigan, Grand Rapids.

Max: Michigan on the 13th.

Alyssa: Is there anywhere online people can find your merch or is it just at shows?

Preston: Uh, just at shows for now. We’re working on it. You can look at it online, but we haven’t figured out shipping.
