ACE MONROE - DON’T MIND

Nashville-based rock band, Ace Monroe, released a new single titled “Don’t Mind” on June 30th. The band consists of Robbie Dylan (vocals), Josh Alfano (guitar), Jack Kaiser (guitar), Erik McIntyre (bass), and Jonathan Tatooles (drums).

This young, up and coming band has a timeless rock n roll sound that has real soul.

Their music is a melting pot of different classic styles, influences, and riffs that blend together sonically. As you listen you feel as if you’ve been transported into the 70s, and the band’s image only works to feed that feeling. They are timelessly cool; parading on stage in bell bottoms, scarves, and long hair that makes you forget you’re listening to their music through a smartphone.

“Don’t Mind” describes the age old tale ever since rock n roll started; the musicians truly don’t mind the feeling of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. The sound and lyrics feel like there’s inspiration from bands like Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, and Aerosmith.

As for musicianship, the track doesn’t disappoint. It starts off with a bang, upbeat drums backing a bright riff as the guitars transition to a gritty, motorcycle rock style that stays consistent throughout the tune. The drums are perfectly mixed in, keeping a solid rock groove with just the right amount of fills. The guitars are so in sync, sometimes you can’t even tell there’s two players. The guitar solo in the middle of the tune is beautifully executed, showing the raw talent of these young men. The bass is criminally underrated, keeping a consistent, punchy groove that I wish was just a little bit louder. As for the vocals, Dylan can truly belt it out like all the best rock vocalists out there.

Ace Monroe is a band that I would call “rock nomads”. While their newest single is raw, classic rock, their discography has everything from the blues, to ballads, to hard rock. They fully encompass what is so beautiful about rock n roll; the striking creativity and diversity in sound.

As Ace Monroe finds their path and place in the crazy world of rock, they are definitely one to keep your eyes on. Their raw talent and energy is infectious, creating such a fun and unique atmosphere that only has room to grow.
